A Salute to African American Elected Officials in Montgomery County: Past, Present and Future
Saturday February 25, 2006, at The Inn at Brookeville Farm a very special tribute took place, A Salute to African American Elected Officials in Montgomery County: Past, Present and Future, given by the African American Democratic Club of Montgomery County, Pres. Ann De Lacy.
Invited Speakers & Presenters were, Hon. Albert R. Wynn, Hon. Chris Van Hollen, Hon Senator Ida G. Ruben, Hon. Douglas M. Duncan, Hon. George Leventhal, Hon. Isiah "Ike" Leggett, and Hon. Karen Britto.

The celebrated event was sold out, for many family and friends came to honor these African American political leaders. In attendance also, were state and local candidates, to salute these hometown heroes. U.S. Senate candidates Kweisi Mfume, U.S. Rep Benjamin L. Cardlin(D- Dist. 3), Lt. Gov. Candidate Del. Anthony G. Brown (D-Dist. 25), gubernatorial candidate County Executive Douglas M. Duncan, Councilmember Thomas E. Perez, and Councilmember Marilyn Praisner and many more.
Robert "Bo" Newsome, First Vice Pres. gave special acknowledgements to Barbara Flack-Darko, Corresponding Secretary and Patricia Horton, Second Vice-president for making this a successful event.
