Serving Our Membership
Our association prospers through the participation and inclusion of members and volunteers who seek to support the goals of the African American Democratic Club of Montgomery County. Below is a list of our committees as per our organizational by-laws.
Archives Committee
The Archives Committee shall consist of at least three members appointed by the President to collect, maintain, and preserve the Club’s historical and ceremonial materials, including but not limited to records of the Club’s previous events and activities. The Historian shall serve as Chairperson of this Committee.

Auditing Committee
The Auditing Committee shall consist of at least three members appointed by the President. The duties shall be to audit the financial records and present a written report to the Club at the first regular meeting following the election.

By-Laws Committee
The By-laws Committee shall consist of at least five members designated by the Executive Board, in addition to the Parliamentarian. It shall be the duty of the By-laws Committee to draft revisions or amendments of the Club By-laws when the membership or requirements of other echelons of the Party necessitate changes. It shall be the duty of the By-laws Committee to draft revisions or amendments of the Club Standing Rules when required. The Recording Secretary shall serve on this Committee. The Parliamentarian shall serve as Chairperson of this Committee.

Finance Committee
The Finance Committee shall prepare an annual budget and present it to the Club at the meeting for adoption. It shall supervise banking and investment of Club funds. It shall perform other fiscal duties usually associated with this type of committee or assigned by the Club. The Treasurer shall serve as Chairperson of the Finance Committee. The Recording Secretary shall be a member of the Finance Committee.

Fundraising Committee
The Fundraising Committee shall be chaired by a member of the Executive Board as designated by the President to plan and develop strategies and events for raising revenues to operate the Club. Any development plan to raise revenue will be subject to the approval of the Executive Board and the membership prior to its implementation.

Membership Committee
The Membership Committee shall consist of at least three members. It shall work to maintain and increase the active membership of the Club. It shall verify the credentials of prospective members. The Membership Committee shall be responsible for acts of courtesy and amenities according to the guidelines established by the Committee subject to approval by the Club. The Committee shall provide each member a copy of the Club By-laws and Standing Rules, the Club Directory and other pertinent documents of the African American Club. The Second Vice-President shall serve as Chairperson of the Membership Committee.

Program Committee
The Program Committee shall consist of at least five members appointed by the President. The Committee will keep before the membership the concepts of the African American Club as outlined in the purpose section of the By-laws. It shall implement and direct educational programs and events planned by the Club. Members of the Program Committee, as designated by the President, shall represent the African American Club in affiliated organizations and others in which the Club shall vote to hold membership. The First Vice-President shall serve as Chairperson of the Program Committee.

Public Relations Committee
The Public Relations Committee shall establish and maintain suitable rapport with appropriate Party Information Channels and the local media to inform them about activities and accomplishments of the Club and its members. The Committee shall conduct public relations workshops for the Club and set up a monthly calendar of events. The Public Relations Officer shall serve as Chairperson of the Public Relations Committee.

Party Support Committee
The Party Support Committee shall consist of at least five members designated by the Executive Board. The Committee shall mobilize members to act through strategies such as letter-writing campaigns, monitoring legislation, proposing legislation, voicing concerns to elected officials, taking positions on issues/legislation, preparing letters to editors and television blitzes generally in response to issues of local, national or global scope.

Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee shall consist of five members designated by the Executive Board at least sixty (60) days prior to the Election Meeting. Members will be individuals who have not announced their candidacies for the Board at the time of their appointment to the Nominating Committee. The Nominating Committee shall endeavor to ensure that there is at least one candidate for each Board position to be filled at the Election Meeting. It shall ensure that appropriate notice of the Election Meeting is sent to the membership and that all absentee ballot and ballot forms identify in alphabetical order all known Board candidates.

Social Committee
The Social Committee shall plan social activities for gathering after regular meetings and on other special occasions, making property arrangements for, location, decorations, entertainment and other details necessary for the success of such occasions.

Standards Committee
The Standards Committee shall consist of at least three members appointed by the President. The duties shall be to monitor Club operations, provide an orientation for officers and committee chairperson and conduct an annual internal Club evaluation.
