Ike Leggett Honored at Pre-Inaugural Reception
Isiah "Ike" Leggett celebrated his victory as the first African American to be elected Montgomery County Executive with hundreds of supporters at a Pre-Inaugural Reception held in his honor on December 3, 2006, at the DoubleTree Hotel in Rockville. Hosted by the African American Democratic Club of Montgomery County (AADCMC), the reception featured a presentation to Ike's wife, Catherine, live entertainment, and recognition of numerous community, business and political leaders. The 2005 NAACP Dinner

On 3/5/05 the African American Democratic Club of Montgomery County held its first general meeting at the Historic Smithville School Museum. The swearing in of the new officers was presided by Judge De Lawrence Beard and the general meeting followed.

Board of Directors - 2005

Member turnout was good, and many came to greet their new President, Ann De Lacy, and to welcome the new board members. Ann expressed that she will be working very hard in the African American Democratic Club along with board members. The board members each gave a brief description of their committee and welcomed any new ideas along with commitments to join.

This was a day to remember, members brought their concerns, spoke of issues needing immediate attention and addressed our future plans. Members came supporting the African American Democratic Club of Montgomery County and we the board, will have opportunity to serve.
